About Us
The Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Company # 1 is a mostly volunteer department.  During most weekdays we have a Fire Administration Officer who runs calls during the day.  Other then that it is all volunteer.  We run between 700-800 calls each year.  Most of  these calls are vehicle accidents and automatic alarms.  Currently there are about 25 active firefighters serving the township.

The History

The department was founded by Harvie A. Bretz Jr. in 1953.  After two years the department was incorporated into the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The first piece of apparatus the department had was a 1937 Diamond T bought from Thompsontown, Juniata county.  This piece currently resides in station 2 as a parade piece.
